Education
  • B.A. In Social Work or related field.
  • At least two years of experience working in a social services setting providing comprehensive services to low income families.
  • At least three years of administrative/supervision experience in a social services setting providing comprehensive services to families.
  • Knowledge of appropriate Case Management Practices.
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English.
  • Ability to plan and conduct training workshops.
  • A California Driver's License, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance.
Preferred qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Cantonese or English/Mandarin.
  • M.A. in Social work or related field.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a Case Management approach to working with families and children receiving comprehensive services for the entire Head Start program.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate: Social Services Coordinator, Family Services Specialists, Vocational Counselor, Mental Health Coordinator, Home Base Coordinator and other staff as assigned. Includes, but is not limited to: Individual guidance and training, support for supervisors experiencing a variety of issues, insuring implementation of program policies, and development of supervision/management skills in coordinators.
  • Using hands on approach and field supervision, assess the training needs of all Head Start Staff. Conduct workshops for staff and parents related to family issues.
  • Participate in developing and implementing individual training and career development plans for all staff under the supervision of the Family Services Administrator.
  • Work cooperatively with the Education Administrator to insure the inclusion of the Child Health and Education Program Area, and Community and Family Partnerships Program Area within the Case Management approach.
  • Receive, review, and distribute all referrals to the appropriate coordinators for service.
  • Develop a tracking system to document action taken and to document short-term outcomes as well as long term outcomes for the delivery of service to families.
  • Responsible and accountable for all aspects of the management of the Community and Family Partnerships Program Area including: Social Services, Mental Health, Vocational Counseling, the Home Base Option and other functions as assigned. Includes, but is not limited to:
    a.

    Compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Child Abuse Reporting laws, Options Head Start Applications, Agency Policies, Program Review finding, and any other applicable requirements.

    b.
    Identification and solving of problems.
    c.
    Personnel training and supervision.
    d.
    Maintenance of open communication with the Head Start Director, other program areas and within the Child Health and Education program area.
    e.
    Program Area planning including multiple elements of refunding and expansion applications.
    f.
    Keeping the Head Start Director and other administrators informed of developments, progress and problems within the program area.
  • Collaborate with other Agency programs for the benefit of the communities serviced by Options Head Start and to meet present and future needs of Head Start Families.
  • Represent Options and Options Head Start at meetings and events.
  • Coordinate with other public and private agencies, for the benefit of communities served by Head Start and to meet present and future needs of Head Start Families.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the services of the Community and Family Partnerships Program Area, Options Head Start, and the entire agency, and with approval, initiate activities to implement those improvements.
  • Assist the Head Start Director as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Responsibility
  • Works under direction of the Head Start Director.
Job Specs
  • Twelve month work year.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation, or any other factor may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the Agency's contracts, or at Agency's discretion.
Status and Starting SalaryFull-time, Exempt; $4,416/mo. + Benefits
