  • BA in child development (BA in other field with formal training in child development equivalent to BA acceptable).
  • Child Development Program Director permit or eligibility for this permit.
  • At least three years professional classroom teaching experience in a child development program.
  • Ability to plan and conduct group workshops.
  • Ability to travel quickly between sites, parent's homes, and other locations as needed.
  • Three years supervisory experience in a child development setting.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English.
  • A California Driver's License, daily use of an automobile and automobile liability insurance.

  • Command of Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • Experience with the High Scope curriculum model.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge in child development theory and practice, including program curriculum (High Scope curriculum).
  • Assess training needs of teaching staff, plan and present workshops, model teaching demonstrations, and other training experiences for staff and parents.
  • Supervise and evaluate teachers and assistant teachers in their professional work. Includes: individual guidance, support for teachers experiencing a variety of problems, and insuring implementation of program policies in a classroom.
  • Participate in developing and implementing individual training and career development plans for teaching staff.
  • Coordinate with other program areas for the most effective and unified delivery of all program services.
  • Participate in development of the annual program plans, assessments, program reviews, etc.
  • Reflect program needs to Program Director and participate in program assessments.
  • Assist Program Director as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Status and Starting Salary
  • Works under direction of the Program Director.

  • Twelve month work year.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation, or any other factor may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the Agency's contracts, or at Agency discretion.
Status and Starting Salary Full-Time; Exempt; $4,395/mo. + Benefits
